What to Expect
Throughout the Year.

Work on the farm follows the rhythm of the crops, so schedules vary throughout the year depending on weather and field conditions.

JUNE - AUGUST

Haylage Season

Haylage harvest typically occurs four times throughout the summer, beginning in June and finishing in August. Each cutting usually lasts about three days, generally completed during regular daytime working hours.

MID SEPTEMBER

Silage Season

Corn silage harvest usually begins in mid-September and runs on a 24-hour schedule while conditions are right. During this time, the crew operates in two 12-hour shifts Monday -Saturday (2:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 2:00 AM) to keep harvest moving efficiently.

BEGINNING OCTOBER 1ST

Sugar Beet Season

Sugar beet harvest typically begins October 1 and continues as long as weather and field conditions allow. Beet harvest is also run on a 12-hour shift schedule 7 days a week (2:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 2:00 AM) while harvest is underway. Each season, around 70 team members help bring in the crop, with 20 trucks per shift, meaning 40 drivers are needed to keep the harvest on schedule during this busy month.

Because agriculture is weather-dependent, exact timing and work hours can shift from year to year. During harvest windows, employees should be prepared for flexible schedules to ensure crops are harvested at the right time.

Automatic trucks are available for hauling, making work safer and easier for our team. On-site RV hookups provide convenient camping for those who want to stay close to the farm during the harvest season.
